Abstract |
|
|
| Decreasing and inverted bathtub-shaped hazard rates arise in lifetime data and require models that can describe both patterns. This paper introduces the inverse power Garhy distribution (IPGD), a two-parameter model obtained through an inverse power transformation of the Garhy distribution. We derive its moments, incomplete moments, survival function, and Mills ratio. The parameters are estimated using fifteen classical methods, and a simulation study examines their performance across different sample sizes. Applications to flood and engineering datasets show that the IPGD provides a better fit than the Garhy distribution and several competing models considered in the study. These results support its use in modeling data from environmental and engineering studies. |
