Abstract |
|
|
| This study examines the psychological and social repercussions of digital media on street children. Participants were divided into two sub-samples using a descriptive method: the first consisted of 168 psychologists and social workers, while the second included 46 street children from Egypt; both completed a questionnaire on Psychological and Social Repercussions of Digital Media. Findings indicated that digital media was associated with increased psychological well-being and resilience among street children, with mean scores of 4.4 and 4.08 reported in the first sample. However, the social repercussions for the first sample were negative, particularly regarding social exclusion, which had a mean score of 4.5. Regarding legal immigration, the first sample reported a mean of 4.7. In the second sample, which focused on psychological factors, well-being and resilience were rated highly, with mean scores of 4.5 and 4.6, respectively. In terms of social outcomes, digital media was found to reduce rates of illegal immigration and social exclusion, with averages of 2.6 and 2.8, respectively. |
