Abstract |

|
| This paper gives a bibliometric review of the research activity of the University of Kashmir (UoK) (J&K) in Web of Science database between 2000-2025. The sample size comprised 13,882 publications, which were evaluated to investigate the change in the research productivity, pattern of citation, structure of authorship and network of collaboration. The analysis shows that there are very high growth rates in both the publications and citations and especially during the past ten years which is a good indication of the improvement in the research performance. There was a high rate of collaboration with close national and international connections particularly with the Pakistani, Saudi Arabia, Chinese, and the United States institutions. It is also validated by the results that there is a skewed pattern of authorship with a small fraction of authors contributing to most of the publications. Moreover, there are losses in certain fields with the majority of the most powerful and widely-read publications being clustered in particular disciplines like food technology, botany, chemistry, physics. Nonetheless, there is also little exhaustive data on the research performance of the UoK in the long term. The present study contributes to the field, providing a new bibliometric evaluation, identifying the major trends, the impact, and the patterns of collaboration. The research sheds some light on the dynamics of research and it may be an effective model in the assessment of institutional scientific productivity through the methods of bibliometric. |
