| The purpose of this research was to examine the effect of value-centered counseling on improving decision-making skills among students in Jordanian universities. This study used the descriptive and correlation quantitative research methodology. Data was gathered using a questionnaire survey that targeted 384 Jordanian university students. Value-centered counseling was operational zed into the following dimensions: value clarification, self-awareness, personal responsibility, social and moral commitment, and future orientation. Skills related to decision-making were measured using problem identification, gathering information, evaluating alternative solutions, choosing the right decision and being confident and responsible in making decisions. It was found that students had high levels of value-centered counseling and decision-making skills. There were statistically significant positive correlations between all dimensions of value-centered counseling and decision-making skills. It was also found that value-centered counseling had a significant regression effect on decision-making skills, where value clarification, personal responsibility and future orientation were the most significant predictors. Based on the findings of this research, value-centered counseling can improve the students’ skills in making value-based, responsible and future-oriented decisions. |
