Abstract |

| Scrolling in mobile allows navigation through information beyond the visible display. Scrolling addiction, sometimes known as ”doom scrolling” or excessive feed consumption, has become a severe behavioral concern in the digital age. However, its addictive nature has generated worries about excessive screen time, mental weariness, a detrimental influence on mental health, social comparison, low self-esteem, and decreased productivity. This study introduces a novel fractional order mathematical model for scrolling, taking into account the app’s usage as an epidemic. The model is carefully confirmed using stability analyses of both local and global equilibrium. Furthermore, disease-free and non-trivial equilibrium scenarios are examined by estimating their reproduction rates. This study seeks to raise awareness of scrolling’s possible misuse and to investigate control theory remedies to addiction by using Optimal control theory. Furthermore, statistical data is used to illustrate numerical findings and investigate the effect of control factors on the scrolling model. |
