Abstract |
|
|
| This paper explores the viability of utilizing boiler slag as a partial replacement for natural aggregate in asphalt mixtures. The primary objectives include assessing the physical properties of both natural aggregate and boiler slag as well as the Marshall stability and flow characteristics of asphalt mixtures composing of a 70:30 ratio of natural aggregate to boiler slag. The relationship between stability and flow test outcomes were examined. It was concluded that the tests conducted complied to JKR Standards and boiler slag can serve as an effective alternative to natural aggregate in asphalt mixtures, presenting a sustainable solution for road construction that minimizes quarrying activities and mitigates environmental impacts, in line with the sustainable development goal and resilient infrastructure. |
