Abstract
This study aimed to examine the impact of the Boko Haram organization on Nigerias national security by analyzing the factors behind its emergence and exploring the political and social context surrounding its rise, as well as its objectives. The study highlights the profound effects the group has had on national security—politically, by destabilizing the state and affecting its relationship with the government and political parties; and in terms of security, through the escalation of terrorist attacks. It also examines the economic repercussions, such as the decline in economic development and foreign investment, and the social effects including displacement crises and the deterioration of education and culture. Furthermore, the study reviews the mechanisms adopted to confront Boko Haram at the local, regional, and international levels, by highlighting the roles of the Nigerian government, civil society, regional organizations such as the African Union and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and the United Nations. The study seeks to assess the effectiveness of these efforts and identify the gaps in confronting this terrorist organization.
