Abstract |

Reducing redundancy of current product design schemes and regularizing the principle variables carried by modules or parts can help re-use design schemes, improve production batch and reduce product development cycle. This paper investigates a methodology for achieving the goal. First, the problem of design scheme reengineering is formalized, and similarity degrees between design schemes are measured by Euclidean proximity through considering a rule of design scheme similarity between product and product in isostructure property, basic geometry property and performance property. Second, a similarity matrix is introduced to identify the relationships between the design schemes, and steps of design scheme reengineering are advanced based on fuzzy clustering. Finally, the proposed methodology is effectively demonstrated in an instance of a motorcycle-hydraulic-disk brake design scheme reengineering. |
