Abstract
In this paper, a new family of distributions called T-X distribution is defined. Some of its properties and special cases are discussed. A member of the family, namely, the three-parameter Weibull-Rayleigh distribution is defined and studied. Some of its properties including distribution shapes, limit behavior, hazard function, moments, and characteristic function are discussed. The method of maximum likelihood estimation, method of moments and L-moment estimator is used for estimating the model parameters and the observed Fisher’s Information matrix is derived. The flexibility of the Weibull-Rayleigh distribution is assessed by applying it to the real data set and comparing it with other distributions.
