Abstract |

The study aimed to identify the role of digital platforms in enhancing community engagement among Saudi university students. The study examined a sample of university students who follow the "Ehsan" platform, one of the most important non-profit digital platforms in the field of charitable work. The study relied on a media survey approach, using an electronic questionnaire as a data collection tool. The study was conducted on a sample of 400 Saudi youth. The study reached several important results, including that the samples engagement with the platform was high, with young people between the ages of 20 and 25 most engaged with the platform, with 85% of them indicating that their engagement with charitable campaigns on social media platforms was a motivating factor for community engagement. The study results showed that the most important motivations for the study sample respondents to follow the Ehsan platform were generally as follows: Several motivations were similar in the first place, including communication motivations (motivation to communicate, participate, and involve university students in voting), cognitive motivations (learning about volunteer work), psychological motivations (a sense of belonging and participation and improving their personal and social skills), and behavioral motivations (participation in volunteer campaigns and participation in volunteer work activities). It also became clear that the most common forms of interaction with the Ehsan platform were "reading only," followed by "liking," then "sharing and publishing content," then "commenting," and finally "referring friends." |
