Transient Dynamics of Atoms Between Parallel Conducting Plates

Abstract
The purpose of this work is to investigate the cooling and trapping of two-level atom moving between two perfect conductor parallel plates. We first quantize the field. Then we explore the solutions of the Bloch equations in the dynamic regime, and we call special attention to the forces in terms of the distance between the plates. The case of Eu3+ is investigated in some details.
