Abstract
In this current paper, the efficiencies; F, of gamma non-destructive systems over a wide range of photon energies, different volume samples characteristics and various gamma detectors setups were calculated. The absolute full energy efficiencies for HPGe detector were calculated by using MCNP5 code and the LabSOCS calibration software. The factors and parameters affecting detection efficiency were investigated. The detection efficiency was achieved as function of the analyzed sample matrix, shape, height and diameter, source–detector distance and the container materials density. A good agreement was found between the calculated MCNP5 and LabSOCS efficiencies. The matching between calculated efficiencies were proposed that leads to validation and verification of the hybrid MCNP5/ LabSOCS model to cover wide various scenarios of the gamma detection measurements.
