Abstract
We have analytically explored the quantum phenomenon of particle scattering by quantum scatterers in restricted geometries. We have considered short ranged (Fermi-Huang δ 3 p [1]) interactions among the incident particle and the scatterers with no interactions among the scatterers, and the scatterers as (i) particle(s) in a 1-D box, (ii) particles(s) in an array of 1-D boxes, (iii) particle(s) in a 2-D rectangular box, etc. Coherent scattering even by a single boson/fermion in a finite geometry gives rise to rich physics specially for the interference between the scattering due to the aperture and that due to the scatterers in the aperture. We also have explored temperature dependence of differential scattering cross-sections for the above cases with ideal Bose and Fermi scatterers.
