Abstract
This paper is concerned with modeling and analysis of a urea fertilizer making system consisting of a number of subsystems of varying nature. Taking constant failure and general repair rates for each subsystem, the system is analysed by using supplementary variable technique. A common cause failure is also considered in system modeling. The expressions for several system characteristics such as reliability, MTSF, steady state availability, busy period and expected profit, which are useful to system managers, engineers, training supervisors and reliability analysts are obtained. TheMTSF and profit function have also been studied through graphs in respect of various parameters in a particular case when repair time distributions are taken as exponentials and important conclusions have been drawn from these graphs.
