Analysis of Verbal Interaction of ELC Faculty at Muscat College, Oman

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to observe and evaluate the extent of the use of verbal communication of the language centerís faculty in Muscat College. The study employed the binary approach in which the researcher applied two instruments for data collection. The two methods used are Flanderís verbal interaction analysis card and the interview. The samples of the study were 10 Flanderís verbal interaction analysis cards and 5 interviews. The results of the study showed that the overall rate of verbal interaction of the sample was good. However, the sample showed acceptable level of some skills like accept pupilís ideas, encouraging pupilís talk initiation, asking questions and silence and confusion. The results also found that teacherís direct influence is the most common activity in the classroom.
